The number of ways a person can tie things together is more or less limitless, from the thousands and thousands of legitimate knots and roping techniques used by sailors, hunters, and savvy outdoorsmen, to the countless impromptu tangles and knot nests crafted by those of us too impatient to learn anything more than a never-ending square knot.

7 Basic Knots Every Man Should Know
https://www.artofmanliness.com/articles/7-basic-knots-every-man-should-know/

For centuries, knotsmanship has been passed down from generation to generation. It’s an essential skill whether a man desires to hit the high seas or scale a high mountain. Heck, knots come in handy when you’re just working around the house. Unfortunately, many men don’t know how to tie a proper knot. So today we’re going to look at the art of knot tying.

Below we’ve made a series of videos on seven basic knots ---CONTINUED at LINK, above---

The Only 4 Knots That You’re Going To Actually Use In A Survival Situation
https://www.askaprepper.com/the-only-4-knots-that-youre-going-to-actually-use-in-a-survival-situation/

[img(100px,75px)]https://www.askaprepper.com/wp-content/ ... x395_c.jpg[/img] (SNIP) ... Sailors and fishermen tend to know a lot of knots, but the average American today can probably manage to cope with shoelaces and a tie (and some of us can’t even do that). A perfect Windsor knot will set off a business suit nicely, but it isn’t much use in a survival situation. You need more practical knots for that. Fortunately, you only really need to learn four of them. Master those and you can cope with almost any situation. Here are the essential survival knots. ---CONTINUED---

How To Tie A Butterfly Knot
https://survivormedic.wordpress.com/2013/05/06/how-to-tie-a-butterfly-knot/

It occurred to me the other day that I use the butterfly knot very frequently. In truth, it’s one of my favorite knots. I use it for everything from securing a ridgeline for a shelter to making an improvised traction splint to treat a broken femur.

The butterfly knot, or butterfly loop as it is also called, forms a fixed loop along the length of the rope. It will handle tension in all three directions and doesn’t jam very easily. One of the more unique uses of this knot is in isolating a damaged section of rope. ---CONTINUED---

How To Tie And Use A Bowline Knot
https://www.askaprepper.com/how-to-tie-and-use-a-bowline-knot/

(SNIP) ... The bowline knot is a loop tied at the end of a line and can retain two-thirds of the rope’s strength, whereas often, a knot will reduce the breaking strength of a rope by 50 percent.

The drawbacks to the bowline are that it can loosen when not under load and form a slipknot under certain circumstances.

Despite these few drawbacks, the bowline is a reliable knot that needs to be in your knot-tying arsenal. ---CONTINUED---
